The SSI Try Scuba session is the easiest way to experience the underwater world of scuba diving. You’ll enjoy a one-time, entry-level opportunity, in a pool, without committing to a longer certification program.

Who should try this experience?

If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to breath underwater? Maybe you’d like to get certified in scuba diving but not quite sure what it would be like? Then Try Scuba is for you!

To sign up for our SSI Try Scuba, you must be at least 10 years old. No prior experience with scuba diving is necessary.

What will you learn?

During class, you’ll meet your SSI Instructor or Assistant Instructor who will not only show you the basics of scuba diving, they will also review a few academics you’ll need to know to enjoy your Try Scuba session. We take your safety seriously so we’ll spend a little time in the classroom or on the pool deck to go over a few things.

Here’s a quick overview of your session:

  • After the paperwork is filled out, a short video will be watched so you can understand the risks of scuba diving and how to easily avoid them.
  • Will talk about the effects of pressure and how to breathe underwater on scuba diving equipment.
  • You’ll learn how to put the gear together, adjust everything so it fits, and how to move around with those big fins on your feet.
  • You’ll follow your instructor’s lead and demonstrate a few skills every diver needs to know.
  • There will be time for you to swim around on your own, play a game or two, and your session concludes with how to take all the gear apart.
